OEPA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE – 3/20/20

At this time the Oklahoma State Capitol is shut down due to COVID-19 and is undergoing an extensive, deep cleaning at this time. House and Senate staff are working remotely from their homes. A timetable has not yet been established for when they will return to the Capitol. When activity resumes, our understanding is that visitors will continue to be restricted and all interaction with legislators and staff will be done remotely.

By Constitution, the State Legislature is only mandated to pass a budget each year. Therefore, depending on the length of time that the Coronavirus restrictions are in place, it could be that the only legislation passed this year will be policy bills directly related to the state budget.

We are closely monitoring all activity and especially anything that involves OEPA. We will update you if there is any movement on any legislation of concern to our members.
